Kindness Scavenger Hunt
Want to make kindness awareness fun?
Make it a scavenger hunt.
The Kindness Scavenger Hunt
Challenge: Spot kindness in the wild.
Things to look for:
- Someone holding a door
- A hug
- Someone saying "thank you"
- Sharing
- Helping without being asked
- A smile given to a stranger
- Someone picking up litter
Keep a tally. Make it competitive.
How to Play
Version 1: Out in public While at the grocery store, park, or mall—count acts of kindness you observe.
Version 2: At home Track kindness between family members for a day.
Version 3: In a book/show Watch for kind acts in stories. Pause and point them out.
Why It Works
When kids LOOK for kindness, they:
- Notice it more
- Become more aware of opportunities
- Start to mirror what they see
Awareness leads to action.
The Debrief
After the hunt, talk about:
- "What was your favorite kindness you spotted?"
- "How do you think that person felt?"
- "What's one kind thing we could do?"
The conversation matters as much as the hunt.
Make It Regular
This could become a weekly thing:
- "Kindness Hunt Saturday"
- Or a monthly family activity
The more you practice noticing, the more natural it becomes.
