The St. Patrick's Day Prep That Won't Stress You Out
St. Patrick's Day is in a couple weeks.
And somewhere on the internet, someone is posting elaborate leprechaun traps, green-themed sensory bins, and gold coin treasure hunts.
Let me save you now:
You don't have to do any of that.
The Reality Check
Kids don't need elaborate holiday setups.
They need:
- Some acknowledgment of the day
- Maybe something green
- Your presence (not your Pinterest skills)
That's the bar. Let's clear it together.
The Lazy (Brilliant) Approach
Wear green. That's it. Everyone puts on something green. Holiday celebrated.
Green breakfast. Add food coloring to milk or pancakes. Takes 30 seconds.
Gold coins. Buy a bag of chocolate coins at the dollar store. Hide them. Done.
Total effort: Under 10 minutes. Kid excitement level: Maximum.
The Leprechaun Trap Trap
The leprechaun trap thing is cute.
It's also completely optional.
If your kid's school does it: Build it together (emphasis on TOGETHER—they do most of work).
If not: Skip it entirely without guilt.
Permission Granted
You don't need to create magic for every minor holiday.
Sometimes the magic is just being together, wearing silly colors, and eating something fun.
That's enough. You're enough.
