You're Not a Activities Director (A Reminder)
Somewhere along the way, moms got the message:
"You must fill every moment with enrichment."
That's a lie.
The Impossible Standard
You're expected to be:
- Chef
- Teacher
- Playmate
- Cleaner
- Activities director
- Entertainer
All at once. With no breaks. With a smile.
That's not a job description. That's burnout.
The Truth
Your children don't need constant entertainment.
They need:
- Safety
- Basic needs met
- Some connection
- Room to figure things out
That's it.
What Kids Actually Learn From Boredom
- Self-direction
- Creativity
- Independence
- Tolerance for discomfort
These are life skills. They can't learn them if you fill every minute.
Permission to Step Back
Today, try:
- Sitting while they play (not directing)
- Saying "figure it out" when they ask what to do
- Reading your own book while they're in the same room
That's still parenting. That's enough.
For You
You need rest too.
Spring break shouldn't mean you work harder while they relax.
Find moments to just... be. Even if they're small.
