The Tissue Paper Stained Glass Craft
Thursday, March 26, 2026
By Barnaby
Want a craft that looks fancy but is secretly easy?
Tissue paper stained glass.
How It Works
- Cut out a shape from paper (egg, flower, butterfly)
- Cut out the middle (leaving a frame)
- Cover the back with contact paper (sticky side up)
- Let kids place tissue paper squares on it
- Cover with another piece of contact paper
- Hang in window
That's it. It looks like stained glass.
Why It's Low-Mess
- Tissue paper doesn't stain
- Contact paper contains everything
- No glue needed
- Cleanup is just throwing away scraps
The Kid-Friendly Version
For little ones:
- Pre-cut the frame shape
- Pre-cut tissue paper squares
- Just have them place pieces
- You handle the contact paper
They feel like they made something beautiful.
The Impressive Factor
When you hang these in your window:
- They actually look good
- They catch light beautifully
- They last for weeks
- Guests might even compliment them
All from an activity that took 15 minutes.
Spring Versions
- Easter eggs with pastel colors
- Flowers for spring windows
- Butterflies for nature themes
- Rainbows for March weather
Same technique, different shapes.
